Apple TV 4K Review

For those who will benefit more from capabilities like smart home automation and immersive home theatre, which go beyond standard streaming, the Apple TV 4K is unquestionably worthwhile.

Introduction

More than ten years have passed since Apple introduced the original Apple TV. The fifth model, fittingly dubbed the Apple TV 4K, which supports 4K/High Dynamic Range was unveiled by Apple this year alongside the new iPhones.

Features

Video Formats: HD/4K Dolby Vision & HDR10 Audio Formats: Dolby Digital 5.1/Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound Chipset: Apple A10X Fusion chip with 64-bit architecture Memory: 3GB RAM & 32GB or 64GB of storage capacities Connectivity: 802.11ac W-iFi with MIMO; simultaneous dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth 5.0 Remote: Slightly redesigned Siri remote

Main shortcomings

– Expensive – Remote still ergonomically flawed – Apple controlled eco-system means this is not for everyone – No Dolby Atmos – No 4K Youtube – For now Amazon Prime non UHD content is Stereo only

Packaging

The ATV 4K is packaged in classic Apple fashion and includes the device itself, a Lightning to USB cord, the standard quick start manual, and a Siri control that has been slightly updated.

Design

With a few changes, the new Apple TV 4K maintains the same design ethos established by Apple over earlier generations. The puck is still the same size as a black beer coaster, measuring 98 mm wide and 98 mm high.

Unique Features

While the top is matte black with an Apple TV logo that is slightly recessed, the sides are "fingerprint magnet" black gloss. Eight vents have been added to the base's elevated circular base to help the fan cool the component's 4K HDR-capable internals. You won't hear the fan when it's running.

Power mode details

There are no features on the front of the device when it is shut off or asleep. When the ATV 4K is awake, it emits a constant white LED light that shines through the black plastic. To signal that it has received a remote control command, the light will flash.

Conclusion

A set-top box called Apple TV turns a television into a screen for Internet content. Once connected, Apple TV enables customers to show digital material from a variety of partner sources as well as from their own iOS devices.
